Dog Grooming, Toronto
Our groomer is not only a professional animal groomer but Sandy has been a professional hair stylists for humans for 25 years. Because Sandy is a dog lover and owner herself, her puppy Daisy is always looking dapper!

Why does my pet need grooming?
All animals love to roll around and play, this can cause their hair to matt and this in turn makes for a very uncomfortable pulling and pinching of the skin as the hair matts tighter and tighter.  A regular trim and thorough brushing and bath is a must for your pets. Over weight cats, although short hair can also become matted as they roll over and over trying to reach their back to clean.

During the summer months the heat and humidty can be unbearable with a thick coat of hair, you dog or cat will instantly become more frisky and energetic with a short hair cut in the summer months.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should my dogs anal glands be flushed?
Dog Anal glands are really sacks that produce a secretion that is placed in the dog's poop, and may be identified by other dogs. Probably the first symptom of an obstruction is that the dog rubs his/her hind quarters on the floor, trying to overcome irritation, but this will only cause him more pain. He/she may even try to bite himself.

In approximately 60% of the cases, the problem is caused by feeding your dog overly rich foods and table scraps. Spiced, barbecued or marinated marinated foods and soft bones are the worst. About 10% are due to the “garbage hound” syndrome where a pet forages through the trash eating fast food rappers, plastic objects, dirt, gravel or sand. Some cases are due to the pet being overweight or just genetically predisposed to the problem. Toy poodles and miniature schnauzers fall into this group. A few cases are due to intestinal parasites (hookworms or whipworms) which cause chronically loose stools which can not express out the anal sac contents normally.

Once the glands are empty, dietary management that produces robust, clay-textured stools usually eliminates the problem. High fiber diets can help in this respect. Dogs with normal stools that do not have a history of this problem do not need to have their anal sacs periodically expressed. Dogs that do have the problem usually scoot or lick the area to tell you it is time.

Sandy will express the anal sacks on each and every grooming visit if your pet requires. Some dogs may require this more frequently than grooming, therefore, we offer a cleaning only rate of $15.
Does the grooming have to be at Sandy's home?
No Sandy will come to your home if you prefer.
Is it possible to get a particular style for my cat?
Absolutely, one the styles that are often done is that of a Lion, leaving a little tuft of hair around the paws and the tip of the tail complete with a main around his/her neck. The style is completely up to you.
